We are back at our friends' Cura London's amazing warehouse space in Limehouse to cook all of the Sri Lankan food that we like to eat. Come join us!
On the menu we have:
A welcome cocktail made with arrack, a Sri Lankan liqueur made with coconut toddy
3 starters of kiribath with lunumiris (red rice cooked with coconut milk served with a shallot, red chilly, salt and lime dip), our polos cutlets (spicy jackfruit croquettes) and devilled kadala (chickpeas tempered with a number of spices, red onions and chunks of fresh coconut)
Rice and curry: Samba rice, beetroot curry, bonchi thel dala, malumiris kirata, gotukola sambol, parippu, wambatu moju, pol sambol
(Sri Lankan rice, beetroot curry with fenugreek, green beans stir fried with cinnamon, cumin and tomatoes, mild banana pepper curry in coconut milk, Sri Lankan bitter greens salad, dal with lemongrass, aubergine pickle, coconut sambol)
- egg/plain hoppers
Bowl shaped pancakes made with fermented batter of rice flour, coconut milk and coconut water served with an optional poached egg in the centre
Chilled set custard made from jaggery (unrefined palm sugar), coconut milk, eggs, pandan and cardamom
Chewy coconut cake made with jaggery, kitul treacle, fennel seeds, cardamom, dates and lots of freshly grated coconut
All the food (and drink) are inherently vegan except for the egg hopper and watalappan options.
The event is BYOB - we recommend beers (lagers go very well with Sri Lankan food) and ginger beers
